dedicated to promoting and preserving the breed through responsible ownership, breeding and training

The Rescue function of the Pomeranian Club of Canada was really only launched in 2001, and so we still have a ways to go . . . but we're headed in the right direction. Christine Surtees (see contact information below) is the Coordinator of this newly formed Pomeranian Rescue function, and she is desperately in need of support. Become a Rescue volunteer, contact or foster care provider in your region. Others types of support, including donations in cash and in kind, are also needed to effectively launch this important new Club activity.

Rescue Me
Rescue me not only with your hands but with your heart as well.
I will respond to you.
Rescue me not out of pity but out of love.
I will love you back.
Rescue me not with self-righteousness but with compassion.
I will learn what you teach.
Rescue me not because of my past but because of my future.
I will relax and enjoy.
Rescue me not simply to save me but to give me a new life.
I will appreciate your gift.
Rescue me not only with a firm hand but with tolerance and patience.
I will please you.
Rescue me not only because of who I am but who I'm to become.
I will grow and mature.
Rescue me not to revere yourself to others but because you want me.
I will never let you down.
Rescue me not with a hidden agenda but with a desire to teach me to trust.
I will be loyal and true.
Rescue me not to be chained or to fight but to be your companion.
I will stand by your side.
Rescue me not to replace one you've lost but to sooth your spirit.
I will cherish you.
Rescue me not to be your pet but to be your friend.
I will give you unconditional love.

CBC recently sneaked a peak into some of Quebec's Puppy Mills. It was not a pretty site, as you can see for yourself by clicking on Quebec Puppy Mills or click here. Animal welfare legislation in Quebec is inadequate to prevent the operation of these big assembly-line puppy mills deep in the province's countryside. Moreover, Provincial dog breeding regulations are not a priority for the government of Quebec whose Minister of Agriculture, Rémy Trudel, simply says "We don't have the money, we made choices: health, social services, education, economic development." Animal welfare didn't make the cut.

CBC reports that recently, when Quebec police raided a puppy mill in the Laurentians, 390 of 400 dogs were so far gone they had to be destroyed. Conditions were so inhumane that officers involved in the raid received psychological counseling similar to that offered to those who investigate grisly murders and massacres.

Our wake up call is to face reality, that this happens ALL across our country and around the world!!! As respectable breeders devoted to the Pomeranian, we VERY much stand behind the fight to stop what is going on in Quebec, and promote awareness country-wide.
If what you see and read in this article does not bother you, please NEVER purchase a living animal that needs you! If this does bother you, PLEASE help us to educate others about just what a  Puppy Mill is!

Don't support pet stores that do not help to adopt out pups from shelters, or give out  breeder and registration information. Respectable breeders DO NOT SELL TO PET STORES.

The way to stop puppy millers is to NOT give them the business. One can always find a reputable  breeder to deal with. For every puppy sold at a pet store or through Pet Brokers, look at the pictures in this CBC National article by clicking on the Photo Gallery link, and read as hundreds more PAY THE PRICE!
